this nebula is mainly an emission nebula, glowing brightly in the constellation of Auriga, 1500 light years away. However, around the massive star AE Aurigae, there is a faint blue reflection nebula as well. AE Aurigae is illuminating the entire field, and is a runaway star, likely ejected from a multiple star system near Orion and is moving rapidly through space.
